A 5-year-old Rohingya boy, Mojahed, son of Nur Alam, is in critical condition after being struck by a bullet during reported clashes between two armed groups in Camp 8E on Thursday evening.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:59 PM on 27 August 2026 in Block B-41, Main Block F, Camp 8E.
Mojahed’s family told the Rohingya Youth Development Association (RYDA) that the child was hit by a bullet during the fighting and sustained a serious head injury. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition, according to his family.
The incident underscores the serious security risks facing Rohingya people living in the refugee camps. Armed clashes in densely populated areas can place entire communities at risk, particularly children, women, older people, and other vulnerable Rohingya.
RYDA urges the Government of Bangladesh and relevant authorities to take immediate and effective measures to prevent armed groups from operating and engaging in clashes inside the refugee camps and to ensure the safety and protection of all Rohingya residents.
Rohingya refugees came to Bangladesh seeking safety and protection. They should not have to live under the threat of armed violence inside the camps. Refugee camps must be places of protection, not places of fear and bloodshed.
