A Rohingya fisherman was killed, another seriously injured, and two others remain missing after their boat reportedly came under fire while fishing on the Naf River near the Waikhong border area along the Myanmar–Bangladesh frontier on June 6, according to local sources.Four Rohingya fishermen from refugee camps in Bangladesh were reportedly fishing in the river when armed men, allegedly linked to the Arakan Army (AA), approached their boat and opened fire. The sudden attack left one fisherman dead at the scene, another badly injured, and two others missing in the river.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Faruk, a resident of Rohingya Refugee Camp No. 13. His body was later recovered near the mouth of the Konar Hali River. The injured fisherman, Mohammad Anu, also from Camp No. 13, is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Search efforts are still underway to locate the two missing fishermen.
