The Rohingya Youth Development Association (RYDA) has successfully launched a three-month Basic Poetry and Writing Training Program, engaging around 50 Rohingya youths, both male and female, in a journey of creativity and expression.

The opening session was led by one of the most respected poets in the Rohingya community, Mr. Mohammed Arshad Amin . Through his guidance, participants were introduced to the world of poetry in an inspiring and accessible way.

The session explored the meaning and origin of poetry, along with key definitions from different scholars. It highlighted how poetry serves as a powerful tool to express human emotions and life experiences. Participants also learned about various types and forms of poetry, as well as the basic elements needed to analyze poetic works.

A significant part of the session focused on the concept of persona, helping learners understand the voice behind a poem. The discussion on imagery was especially engaging, where trainees explored the five sensory forms: visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and gustatory. Practical examples were shared to make these concepts clear and relatable, allowing participants to better understand how language can appeal to the senses.

Overall, the session laid a strong foundation for upcoming practical writing activities, encouraging participants to discover their own voices and creativity.

This program marks the beginning of a meaningful and empowering learning journey for Rohingya youth.

We sincerely thank all organizers, trainers, trainees, and guests for their dedication and valuable contributions in making this initiative a success.
