Two Rohingya men who reportedly left their village to search for their cattle were allegedly killed after being detained by members of the Arakan Army (AA), according to local reports and a video testimony released on 15 June 2026.

The victims have been identified as Noor Hassan, son of Nojer Ahmed, and Nur Hakim, son of Esoup Ali.

According to local sources, the two men went into the hills in Buthidaung Township to search for their missing cattle. During their journey, they were allegedly detained by AA members. Following their reported detention, all communication with their families was lost, leaving their relatives in fear and uncertainty as they searched for answers.

Several days later, a video testimony emerged alleging that the two men had been killed and buried.

The incident has heightened fears among the Rohingya community in Rakhine State, where many continue to face insecurity, displacement, and ongoing reports of human rights violations. Community members say they live under constant fear, with many afraid to travel, farm, or carry out basic daily activities because of the risk of violence.

We call on the international community and human rights organizations to conduct an independent investigation into the reported killings and to ensure accountability, justice, and protection for the Rohingya people. Those responsible for these killings and for committing genocide against the Rohingya people must be held accountable in accordance with international law. We also call on the international community to take appropriate action against the Arakan Army (AA) and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
